Israel's Mission: Session 3
Luke 15:8-10; Luke 15:11-13
This morning's study focuses on Jesus' renewal of Israel's mission and its implication for His followers. When He was criticized for having close contact with "sinners" (any by implication, no longer being "holy" Himself), Jesus countered with a three-part parable that dramatically portrayed God's intense love for all people. The parable also invited His hearers to accept their role as God's partners in the mission of seeing others restored to the Father's house. Based on the foundation of God's commission to Israel to be His kingdom of priests, this parable calls us, as Jesus' followers who also are commissioned to be His royal priesthood, to greater faithfulness in seeking the lost and displaying God's redemptive love.
